Thursday Baking and Blanket

Today was a slow morning for me.  

Waiting for fabric to wash...what to do what to do. 

A few over-ripe bananas were calling to me.  

So preheat the oven and muffins were made...

mini banana oatmeal muffins.  

After having a cup of hot coffee 

(mine usually is lukewarm before I remember I have a cup and drink it) 

and picking up my blanket to work a few rows...

 

I really wish I had written down what I did to the muffins.  

I'm terrible at "doing my own thing" in the kitchen which results in some fabulously yummy creations, but I must remember to write it down!

Super Sweet Dress

I've held onto this fabric for awhile now.  

I knew that I didn't want to create a bag with it, but I wasn't sure beyond perhaps a little girls apron.  Then I started seeing all the tie-tab little girls dresses becoming so popular and VIOLA! 

Perfect use of this set of fabrics!

 I of course had to add 2 rows of ruffles with handmade crocheted lace trims, and a flower button to the front.

I added some ties to the sides to cinch it...and add a little flair! 

I used this tutorial (on Made by RAE's blog) 

for the basis of the dress bodice and piping.  

The bottom of the dress I did a basic gathered skirt, but added a white layer for a pinafore/lining.

 (Not pictured. Just basic but I used about 6" less in width than the skirt piece.)

Then I added the double row of ruffles, tie-backs, and flower front piece. 

Details of the ruffles: 

 I did just a basic sc strip of trim to cover the stitching on the top ruffle.

The bottom ruffle has a crochet trim in a Japanese pattern that I instantly knew would add enough cuteness to the ruffle. 

For the bodice I made a little button crochet flower to add some detail to the top.  

Small, but just enough! 

This project left me smiling!  Such cuteness can brighten any day!

March Giveaway Time!

No...I'm not actually giving away time in March.  

If only it would be that easy to come up with some "extra" time!  

It seems that once the hint of Spring-time comes...

the days go by even quicker!

But I do have this bright Celestial Zippered Pouch to Giveaway! 

The zippered pouch is in beautiful Celestial cotton prints

and measures 5 3/4" wide and 6 1/2" tall

with a D-ring loop on the side.

It is lined with hot pink cotton and lightly interfaced.

The front of the bag I have added some flair for the sunshine

with some frayed hot pink cotton. 

Please take care with small children "picking" at the threads!
