Merry Christmas!!!

I've been putting more thought into my "Ronna's Originals" and what direction I want to take in the New Year ahead...
The past few months I have become quite burnt-out on sewing the same bags on repeat. Don't get me wrong, I love each and every one that I have created and recreated...but a girl can only sew so many Leaf Tree Book Bags before she really dislikes tree bags!  Hehehe!
I started out Ronna's Originals with the thought of no mass orders, just me creating a few items in different prints.  So starting in the New Year I am going to get back to this main idea for my Etsy Shop!  I will be creating only a few of each item, giving them the "Original" theme. I will also be adding some of my hooked/crocheted items.  I love hooking and am really excited to be adding some of these creations to my Etsy Shop.
Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful Happy New Year ahead!

Thank you to my amazing husband Jonny for the beautiful photo!

Owl Bag in the Crocodile Stitch

Every time I see the crocodile stitch/aligator stitch/scale stitch I think of the 70's crafted owls.
So I took up my hook and some yarn and I came up with a girls purse.

I lined the inside with a cute brown owl print.

For those asking for the pattern I used, I didn't follow one.
I knew the stitch, so I just started with brown yarn creating a base of dc's as wide as I wanted the purse (making sure the count was equal to the foundation row for a row of crocodile stitches) and then started the crocodile stitches. Then I went back thru and did a row of sc's in the green yarn.
I did one side first, and then the other side, so that I had two seperate pieces.  I'm sure there are ways to do this "in rounds" so you just have one piece.
Anyway, so after finishing both sides, I placed them right-sides together and whip-stitched them together.  I then started on one side and added a row of sc's around the top edge, then continued up creating the shoulder strap. It was a fun challenge and project!

Now just for me to decide if I want to add some eyes/owl face onto the bag or leave it basic and cute!
