Every time I see the crocodile stitch/aligator stitch/scale stitch I think of the 70's crafted owls.
So I took up my hook and some yarn and I came up with a girls purse.
I lined the inside with a cute brown owl print.
For those asking for the pattern I used, I didn't follow one.
I knew the stitch, so I just started with brown yarn creating a base of dc's as wide as I wanted the purse (making sure the count was equal to the foundation row for a row of crocodile stitches) and then started the crocodile stitches. Then I went back thru and did a row of sc's in the green yarn.
I did one side first, and then the other side, so that I had two seperate pieces. I'm sure there are ways to do this "in rounds" so you just have one piece.

Anyway, so after finishing both sides, I placed them right-sides together and whip-stitched them together. I then started on one side and added a row of sc's around the top edge, then continued up creating the shoulder strap. It was a fun challenge and project!
Now just for me to decide if I want to add some eyes/owl face onto the bag or leave it basic and cute!
